I thought I’d take a minute to backtrack with this one. Jacob Snider came on my radar a few weeks ago with his debut album Carrier, and it’s been in heavy rotation ever since. From beginning to end Carrier is a musical journey to a folk/pop outer space that is so different from anything else around at the moment. Snider manages to meld so many sounds into one album that it’s fascinating. Each track seamlessly transitions from one to the other with Snider’s strikingly raw vocals giving an emotional, heartfelt tone. The album production comes courtesy of Tony Berg, it features multi-instrumentalist Armand Hirsch and Jesca Hoop sings on the last song. You’d expect this album from a seasoned artist, but Jacob is still at the beginning of his career, so we’re seriously impressed. Keep your radar locked on him, then, and enjoy thoroughly his debut album.
