Audio: Charles The Kid – HHHL

maxresdefault

As we all know the world of beat makers is a crowded place, but there is occasionally a time when you come across one and they jump out at you — Charles The Kid is definitely one of those beatmakers who stick out.

The London-based producer has been developing and running DR. SoundCloud, a platform where the artist can get constructive feedback on their music exclusively on SoundCloud, as well as his own music when he feels inspired to. “I tend to work very freely. When the urge takes me, I create.”

“HHHL” (Hip-Hop High Life) is a new six-track instrumental tape he just released last week that takes the listener on a ride through some spacey, mellow beats that’re “designed to inspire innovators, dreamers and thinkers.”

The EP takes from a range of samples, from piano to bells to songs found on old CD’s lying around the house to songs found in old movies. Every sound on this ambitious project is custom-made to convey the dichotomy between Charles’ desire to succeed as well as to retreat into his own creative space.

Ease yourself into the week with these super chilled vibes.

Happy Monday!
