Little Simz is wrapping up a fantastic year with the third instalment (and fourth EP release in 2014) in her AGE 101: DROP series. We’ve been riding with Simz for a while now here at Twistedsoul. So ending the year with yet more new music from her is truly a gift. As usual, what you get with this is 6 tracks of straight lyricism and many different moods. Some moments are jazzy like opener “No Introduction, ” others soulful, like “Closer” and “Frozen.” You even get some hardcore moments on “Used To Know.” The six-strong-track EP features collaborations with the likes of Tiffany Gouché, IAMNOBODI, MeLo-X, Jakwob, Sevn Thomas and Prezident Jeff.
Simz speaks on the new project:
I present to you Age 101: Drop 3|000.
Firstly i would like to start by saying thank you.
Thank you for opening your heart and ears. Im not a person to talk about my feelings much to people, music is the only outlet I can do so with, and you listen to my frustration, my stories, and my journey. I appreciate that.
So much can (and has) happen in one year, and this year has been ONLY the start of something really special, these drops are my diary.
I tried to sum up my sound on this drop, and as it so happens… I don’t have a sound. What would you call it? I have no idea.
Music has no genre to me. So enjoy it, don’t overthink it, and have a Merry Christmas and a happy new year.
