With his effortlessly unique brand of electronic pop, Oceaán‘s self-titled debut EP saw its protagonist, Oliver Cean, thrust into the spotlight with acclaim coming from the likes of BBC Radio 1 and KCRW as well as online tastemakers such as FADER, Dazed and Confused, Electronic Beats and many more.
On ‘The Grip’ EP, Cean’s work continues to expand on its electronic foundations with awe-inspriring new intricacies and explorative influences. Says Cean of the new EP :
“I wanted to explore the duality between lyrical context and conceptual production. Taking influences from many facets of electronic music, my main aim was to investigate the effectiveness of songwriting within the electronic plane – whether it be marrying a lyrical concept with similar tonal aspects (inherently present within the production), and more importantly, creating and displaying disparity between them.”
We’ve already been treated to three cuts from the EP, but now we can tuck the whole thing in its entirity, including brand new cut “At Your Feet”.
‘The Grip’ is out on December 8th via B3SCI Records (US) / Chess Club (UK). Stream below via SoundCloud.
