Universal have reissued Dr. Octagonecologyst the debut solo album of rapper Keith Thornton aka Dr. Octagon. Thornton who is also known by his  many aliases as Dr. Dooom, Black Elvis, Dr. Ultra, Crazy Lou, Poppa Large and Kool Keith. Dr. Octagonecologyst introduces the character of Dr. Octagon, a homicidal, extraterrestrial, time-traveling gynecologist and surgeon. It’s hard to exaggerate the role that Dr. Octagon played in revitalising underground hip-hop. Dr. Octagon represented the first truly new, genuine alternative to commercial hip-hop.

The Respect the Classics  campaign launched on September 3rd with five Priority Records classics, including expanded CD and digital 25th Anniversary Editions of Eazy-E’s triple platinum solo debut, Eazy-Duz-It and EPMD’s chart-topping album, Strictly Business. Remastered 180-gram vinyl LP reissues of Eazy-Duz-It, Ice Cube’s solo debut, AmeriKKKa’s Most Wanted, and N.W.A’s iconic, triple-platinum Straight Outta Compton will also be released in faithfully replicated original album packaging, as well as a remastered CD and digital reissue of N.W.A’s debut, N.W.A & The Posse.

The vinyl reissue of Dr. Octagon’s underground classic ‘Dr. Octagonecologyst’ comes with a trippy 3D lenticular cover that appears to suck you right into Dr. Octagon’s crazy world.
