We featured this track from Phox on one of our recent mixes on Soundcloud, but felt it needed extra love here too – simply because it’s so bloody good. The six-piece Wisconsin band recently dropped “Slow Motion,” one of the most charming indie pop songs we’ve heard in a long time. The song is based on frontwoman Monica Martin’s own experiences working at a coffeehouse.
“One day I was like, ‘Oh, I’m sorry, I was just moving in slow motion today.’ This was after like three years. I realized I said that four out of the six days I worked there a week,” she says.
The track is a lovely mix of multi-instrumentation all wrapped in the warm vocals of Martin’s, this is one of my favorite tracks from their self-titled debut LP, which is out on September 1st.
