Over the last couple of years, the hugely talented collective of THEMpeople have been right in the centre of a musical renaissance the Chicago music scene. Consisting Michael Anthony (Artist/Producer/Art Direction), Lon Renzel (Engineer/Producer) Sean Deaux (Producer) and THE Mind (Artist/Live Direction), the group has been actively working and collaborating with the city’s promising young artist. As well as producing for others, THEMpeople will sometimes step into the spotlight for a release of their own. They recently put out a project SMOKE BREAKS IV, which offered the listener an audio time capsule of Chicago’s musicianship interpreted through the collective’s own sonic perspectives which they loosely refer to as Soul Fi or I.L.M (intelligent Lo-fi music). Since arriving on the then-burgeoning scene their music studio and artistry has influenced the sound and executive production of the city’s most progressive bodies of work with artist like KENE,Chance the Rapper, Alex Wiley, Joey Purp, Via Rosa, The GTW, No Name Gypsy, Vic Mensa, Nico Segal, Caleb James and many more. You can listen to some of the fruits of their labour below. Take notice and enjoy.
