In what is a sea of endless R&B music that lurches towards the same space occupied by the likes of SZA, and BANKS, one element that sticks out in Mizan’s music and forms the base of her style is that she’s from New York. This close connection to her city could be what sets her apart from the crowd and why ‘Thru‘ sounds almost revolutionary. An alluring and additive affair, Mizan’s vocals are quietly powerful against a backdrop of machine-driven R&B with nice touches of electro fused with warm organ stabs that lend the track a freshly unique feel.
