Following on from last month’s release of “No Romance, taken from the EP of the same name,Tirzah’s new song “Malfunction” shows a more refined, stripped-down side to the singers repertoire. Gone are the shuffling,wonky DIY beats and swirling vocal samples courtesy of maverick producer Micachu and in there place is a minimalistic downtempo R&B song. A sense of calm runs through the track, a simple piano chord, the occasional kick drum and Tirzah’s smooth vocals are enough to keep the listener hooked.
