Friendly Fires have teamed up with Andrew Weatherall and Timothy J Fairplay (aka The Asphodells) to release their first new music since the bands 2011 LP ‘Pala‘. The collaboration which was convened in an east London pub, with the plan being to produce music that came from a place outside of their respective usual musical styles.
Recording took place between Weatherall’s Shoreditch studio, The Bunker, and Friendly Fires frontman Ed Macfarlane’s basement studio in Farringdon. The result is ‘Before Your Eyes’ and ‘Velo’ – two brand new sprawling tracks that are unlike anything either acts have made before. The tracks are out today as a AA-sided single on 12” and download. They are also the first release on the trio’s own Telophase label.
