Zara McFarlane reworks Max Roach's 'All Africa'

Zara Mcfarlane has unveiled her latest track, a reworking of Max Roach’s “All Africa”. Lifted from her forthcoming two-track EP out on the 26th of June via Gilles Peterson’s Brownswood Recordings the result, is something very special. The East London-based singer and songwriter and her band reimagined the track taking the original’s all-out, percussive trip into a looser, more softly mesmerising kind of territory. Bringing out warm new textures from the original this new version combines thumping rhythm with a brighter musicality. The pulsing song features a stellar line-up of UK talent; Nathaniel Cross (Trombone), Moses Boyd (Drums), Jay Darwish (Upright and Electric Bass), Ashley Henry (Keys), Junior Alli-Balogun (Percussion) and Binker Golding (Tenor Saxophone). An absolute beauty!

All Africa is out on June 26th via Brownswood Recordings – pre-order from Bandcamp.
