Rave At Your Fictional Borders is an ever-evolving collective initiated by the brilliant drummer, bass player, producer,  and composer Dave De Rose, a musician whose stylistic range and versatility have long been evident across projects such as Agile Experiments, The Day Goes, Mulianne Joor, and Plants Heal. De Rose’s sound roams freely through jazz, electronic, dub, experimental, ambient and whatever influences drop in the pot. Alongside De Rose, the trio currently features Salim Akki (drums & vocals) and Marius Mathiszik (guitar, loops & sampler)
For Rave At Your Fictional Borders, it’s all about crafting music in the moment, with each musician intuitively responding to one another and the atmosphere. This spontaneous method means the trio often has no fixed arrangement or pre-written structure, allowing their diverse influences and real-time chemistry to guide the piece as it unfolds.

With their debut full‑length out today, there’s good reason to celebrate. Titled Analogue Nomadism, the album comes with a visual for one of its standout moments, Spoonbill.
The video, created by Akki, features creatively layered footage that includes shots from the actual moment the piece was composed and recorded simultaneously, during an instant composition session at L’Bridge studio in Kinitra, Morocco. Dreamlike overlays, shifting colours, and textured visuals evoke a sense of raw energy and improvisation, echoing the spontaneous spirit of the music.
We’ll be reviewing the album in the coming weeks; for now, watch the video below and grab the album here.
