Brighton-based label and record store Mr Bongo‘s will reissue Gal Costa’s Brazilian masterpiece Índia next month. A post-Tropicalia masterpiece from one of the movement’s major players and real legend of Brazilian music.
The album originally released in 1972 features a host of the era’s leading musicians, including Gilberto Gil, Arthur Verocai, Tenorio Jr. amongst others.
The jaw-dropping album due out on July 7th comes complete with the original artwork that was banned by the Brazilian military government in 1973 during the brutal dictatorship.
Delivering a melting pot of sounds Índia is an effortless infusion of MPB, folk, jazz, funk and rock with strong Tropicalia and Nordestino influences throughout the record.
